Parish Birthday Celebrations
Sunday the 28th April 2013 was the 325th anniversary of the erection of our parish of St Mary Assumed into Heaven here in Zebbug. It was through the publication of the document Cum in Prima signed by Bishop Davide Cocco Palmieri that Zebbug, together with Xaghra, Nadur (Qala) and Ta’ Sannat were erected into independent parishes from the parish of Rabat (Victoria), Gozo. On Saturday the 27th, the 6.00 p.m. Mass was presided by Parishpriest Can. Reuben Micallef. Others priests concelebrated in the Mass. The Major of our locality was also present together with Gozo Minister Dr. Anton Refalo and other members of Parliament. At the end of Mass, the Archpriest blessed a new beautiful portrait featuring Bishop Cocco Palmieri with the Zebbug Parish Church in the background which was commissioned by the parish to young painter Manuel Farrugia of Victoria. After the Mass, a music-literary evening was held at the Parish Centre under the patronage of the Minister for Gozo Dr. Anton Refalo. The Santa Marija Band of the locality animated together with the parish choir.
