| Palm Sunday
Sunday the 14th of April was Palm Sunday. At 9.45 a.m. parents with their children wearing Jewish clothes gathered behind the Każin Banda Santa Marija in front of the niche of the Sacred Heart of Jesus where Archpriest Canon John Sultana addressed the crowd and made an introduction to the Liturgy. Then they all proceeded to church for the 10.30 a.m Mass which was the first liturgy to be transmitted on Radju Għażżiela 101.4 FM Stereo.  
 
Tuesday of Holy Week After the 7pm Mass, those individuals who were to participate in the Good Friday procession gathered in the Church. Confession was available to all. The Archpriest addressed important issues regarding the Good Friday Procession. Maundy Thursday Thursday the 18th of April was Maundy Thursday or Holy Thursday. At 6.30 p.m. the Archpriest presided the main Liturgy that commemorates the institution of the Holy Eucharist and the Priesthood. After the Liturgy, the ‘Visits of the Seven Churches’ took place with the devout processing out of the church in the square and back into the church. At 8.30 p.m. the Visits in the villages took place.   
 
Good Friday At 8.00 a.m. Archpriest Can. John Sultana presided over the Morning Prayer. Then at 3.00 p.m. the Liturgy of the Adoration of the Cross took place. The procession began to march at 6 p.m.   
 
Saturday before Easter At 8.30 a.m. Archpriest Canon. John Sultana presided over the Morning Prayer. Then a group of women anointed the main altar with holy oil. At 8.00 p.m. the Easter Vigil began. Baptism took place during the Liturgy.      
Easter Sunday At 4.00 p.m. Archpriest Canon. John Sultana presided over the main Mass of the day. At the end of the Mass, all children were given a gold fish and their figolli were blessed.   Written by: Fr. Geoffrey G. Attard Photos by: Matthew Vella |
