Traditional Ikla tal-festa The traditional Ikla tal-festa took place in the parish square on Friday the 11th of August at 8.30 p.m. A great number of people attended. The Solemnity of the 15th of August On Tuesday the 15th of August, the Kwindiċina Mass was at 11.00 a.m. the Regina Angelorum Choir animated the Mass. The Triduum Wednesday the 16th of August was the first day of the Triduum. The Mass began at 7.00 p.m. The preacher of the Triduum was Rev. Joseph Formosa Ofm. Conv. who forms part of the Franciscan Conventual Community of Victoria. Festa Vigil On Saturday the 19th of August, at 7.30 a.m. the Archpriest Rev. Canon Reuben Micallef presided over the Mass of Thanksgiving. At 6.30 p.m. the Clergy left the Church together with Vicar General Mgr. Tarċisju Camilleri and walked to the Santa Marija Band Club. The relic was transported to the Parish Church where at 7.00 p.m. the Vicar General presided over the Mass and preached the homily. The Solemnity of the Assumption into Heaven of the Blessed Virgin Mary On Sunday the 20th of August, the Parish celebrerated the Solemnity of the Assumption. At 9.00 a.m Bishop Mario Grech presided over the Mass. Capuchin Friar Fr Joe Buttigieg ofm. Cap. Preached the homily. At 6.00 p.m. Mgr. Trevor Sultana, Archpriest of the Collegiate Basilica of Our Lady of the Visitation of Għarb celebrated Mass and preached. At 7.30p.m. the Procession with the titular statue of the Assumption began. It was accompanied by the Santa Marija Band. Tuesday the 22nd August On Tuesday the 22nd of August, at 7.00 p.m. Archpriest Rev. Canon. Reuben Micallef celebrated the Mass at the end of which the titular statue of Santa Marija was put back into its niche aming the singing of the popular hymn Mal-Qtajja’ tal-Anġli. This year the choir sang also for the first time the hymn F’dan il-Għid ta’ nofs Awwissu the lyrics of which were written by Fr Geoffrey G Attard and the music composed by Mro Franco Cefai.
