| Fr Joseph leaves us to go to Rome
Fr Joseph Attard left Gozo on Wednesday the 21st of September for Rome. He will be working in the parish dedicated to St Albert the Great and studying at the Gregorian University. Inauguration of the Stella Maris Hall The Stella Maris House, the seat of the Missionary Society of St Paul founded by the late Mgr Joseph De Piro, had its hall redecorated and inaugurated on Wednesday the 21st of September 2016 at 6. 30 p.m. Fr Norbert Bonavia, the superior of the House, spoke about the work on the hall. Young Żebbuġ artist Mario Cassar was responsible for the major part of the decorations. The decorations represented various aspects of the Christian faith and its relation to the Maltese islands. Among other things, Cassar painted an image of the Apostle Paul who brought the faith to the Maltese, an image that was inspired by an older one by Emvin Cremona which the latter had painted for the Żebbuġ church but which had not been accepted by the benefactors. Pilgrimage to Mellieħa Sanctuary On Sunday the 25th of September, Mgr Mario Grech will lead a pilgrimage to the Mellieħa Marian Sanctuary. The sanctuary has been visited by the late Pope John Paul II in May 1990, on his first visit to the Maltese islands. Written by: Fr. Geoffrey G. Attard. |
