  First Confession
Nine children from our parish have been prepared for their first Confession in preparation for their first Holy Communion. The ‘penitential service’ began at 4.30 p.m. on Monday the 9th of February in the parish church presided by archpriest Canon Reuben Micallef. Canon Noel Saliba and Fr Geoffrey Attard took part.

After a reading from the Gospel according to St Luke consisting of the parable of the prodigal son, Fr Attard delivered a short reflection and questioned the children. Then the first Confession followed when the children went to one of the three different priests who took their place in the confessional. At the end of the celebration, priests, catechists and children took a group photo.

St Paul’s Shipwreck Solemnity
The solemnity of St Paul’s Shipwreck was celebrated on the 10th of February. Mass Times were as on Sundays with the exception of the 10.00 a.m. Mass. The 10th of February is a very important celebration for our islands; it is in fact the birthday of Christianity in Malta. Catholics are asked to attend Mass to honour and sanctify this holy day of celebration.

Beginning of Lent
On Wednesday the 18th of Februrary the Church inaugurates Lent. Lent is the forty day period of prayer and fasting in preparation for the great Easter liturgy. Mass will be at 6.00 p.m. when ash will be spread over the heads of the faithful. Archpriest Reuben Micallef will preside.
