Programme of Festivities
in honour of the Assumption of the Blessed Mary

  Friday 15th August.
Solemnity of the Assumption of the Virgin.
At 11.00 a.m. Mass animated by the choir Regina Angelorum. No Mass will be celebrated in the afternoon or evening.

The Triduum
Wednesday 20th of August.
At 6.30 p.m. Rosary and Kurunella.
At 7.00 pm. Mass during which the Canon John Sultana, Rector of the Church of St Anthony the Abbot of Xaghra, will deliver the homily.

Thursday 21st of August.
At 7.00 pm. Mass during which the Canon John Sultana, Rector of the Church of St Anthony the Abbot of Xaghra, will deliver the homily.

Friday 22nd of August.
At 7.00 pm. Mass during which the Canon John Sultana, Rector of the Church of St Anthony the Abbot of Xaghra, will deliver the homily.

Saturday 23rd of August.
At 7.30 a.m. The Vicar General Mgr. Giovanni B. Gauci, Archdeacon of the Diocesan Cathedral will celebrate Mass at the end of which the Te Deum will be sung.
At 6.30 p.m. Translation of the Relic of the Virgin from the Chapel of the Saint Mary’s Band Club to the Parish Church.
The Archpriest will preside over the Mass at 7.00 p.m. The homily will be delivered by the Rev. Canon Joe Zammit. The Kurunella will be said at the end of Mass and Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament will follow.

Sunday, 24th of August.
Feast of the Blessed Virgin Mary Crowned.

Masses will be on the hour beginning at 5.00 a.m and ending at 8.00 a.m.
At 9.00 a.m. Bishop Mario Grech will preside over the main Mass of the day. At 6.15 p.m. Mgr. Joe Vella Gauci, Ambassador of the United Nations, will preside over the Mass; the parish orchestra will participate.
At 7.30 pm. the procession with the statue of Saint Mary will begin to march. Rev. Daniel Sultana will lead the procession accompanied by the Banda Santa Marija of the locality.
At the end of the profession Benediction with the Blessed Sacrament will be administered.

Tuesday, 26th of August.
At 6.30 p.m. Rosary and Benediction.
At 7.00 p.m. Archpriest Can Reuben Micallef will say Mass at the end of which the statue will find its place back in its niche. Thus come to their end the titular feasts for this year 2014.
