Ash Wednesday

Wednesday the 5th of March was a special day in the Catholic Calendar; Christians around the world marked the beginning of the holy season of Lent by attending the sacred liturgy in their own parish church during which ashes are poured over the foreheads of the faithful reminding the congregation that ‘from dust we come and to dust we shall return’. The liturgy in our parish church in Zebbug was celebrated at 6.00 p.m. with the parish choir animating the Mass. Lent is spread over a period of forty days reaching its climax with the Easter festivities; the main liturgy will be that of the Easter Vigil which is considered the crown of all Christian liturgies.
