The Forty Hours Adoration Devotion
  The Quaranta Ore of Forty Hours devotion is held annually at the end of the year. The devotion was introduced on Monday 28th December with a Solemn Concelebration presided by Bishop Emeritus Mgr. Nikol G. Cauchi at 6.00 pm. Both parish choirs Regina Angelorum and Santa Marija participated. After the Mass, the Band’s Spiritual Director Can. Karm Cini and other members of the Philarmonic Society Santa Marija animated an hour’s adoration after the mass. The adoration ended with solemn benediction of the Blessed Sacrament.

On Tuesday the 29th a day of Eucharistic Adoration was begun at 7.00 am. At 5.00 pm the Vocations’ Group and the altars servers under the direction of seminarian Joseph Attard organized an hour’s adoration in the church. At 6.00 pm Mass was celebrated by Fr. Mark Demanuele MSSP, Superior at the Stella Maris House of the MSSP community in Zebbug. Eucharistic Adoration organized after the Mass was animated by members of the Legion of Mary.

On Wednesday the 30th there was another day of Eucharistic Adoration. Members of the Society of Christian Doctrine MUSEUM organized an hour of adoration at 5.00 pm preceded by Mass which was presided by Fr. Mark Demanuele MSSP. An hour of adoration organized by the Divine Mercy Group took place after the end of Mass.

On Thursday the 31st adoration began after the 7.00 am Mass. Then there was another Mass at 11.00 am by Fr. Geoffrey Attard and there was a half hour of adoration before noon. AT 5.00 pm the Catholic Action Group organized an hour of adoration. At 6.00 pm Fr. Mark Demanuele celebrated Mass and the priests of the parish concelebrated. Then there was another Mass at midnight celebrated by Archpriest Can. Reuben Micallef which brought in the New Year 2010.

On the 1st of January, Solemnity of the Divine Maternity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the Mass schedule was as on Sundays. At 4.00 pm. Mgr. Lawrenz Sciberras presided over the Eucharistic Concelebration. A short procession with the Blessed Sacrament went around the streets of the parish. Then all the liturgical celebrations came to an end with Solemn Eucharistic Benediction.
